This is the first post in a line of what should be many. The goal is to have a good dumping ground of the things I like as we move forward.
Why and How
The landscape is pretty broad now that, in the lovely year of 2025, every well known social media provider has literally become state sponsored media.
It's exceptionally easy for someone like me to spin up new instances of blogs. This particular blog is using Ghost which you'll see in the footers in other areas. Ghost is a pretty great platform and has been for many years. All of the typical features of a blog software are found in Ghost and it is relatively easy to use.
If you're a technical person then Ghost follows the jamstack philosophy and you can even host it local-only to produce a great blog using something like Astro to reduce cost and maintenance.
Social Media This Year
In 2025 I hope platforms like Ghost get more attention. It was pretty clearly revealed that, after Tiktok was banned/unbanned/banned/maybe banned and converted to state sponsored media, users are vulnerable to social media addiction and don't really care if their feeds are heavily censored to promote conspiracy theories from the 1970s.
Fluoride isn't dangerous in municipal water supplies and increases the quality of life for many. Trying to convince people it causes the loss of psychic powers and causes cancers is a boomer boner fantasy for weak minded white men.
If you want to support making sure that being poor pays interest, interest in the form of general reductions in welfare as preventable dental erosion systemically causes other avoidable problems, you are in the wrong place. Sabotaging everyone around you is only proof that you are inept.
"But my followers!" many will cry, and their cries are only social media addiction burrowed into their brains preventing them from realizing that nothing is keeping people on those platforms. Even worse, the 5K or 30K followers those people have on state sponsored platforms are mostly bots giving them what probably amounts to little or no interaction or conversion. You are always at risk to being dropped from the algorithm or entirely removed from the site for not appropriately presenting the state.
Publishing has never been easier. Technology has never been more accessible.
It's time to engage with technology instead of being dog walked with a tiny <3 icon.
